Markierte Beiträge löschen

Hallo !Friendica Support,

Hi,
when I want to checkout the newest version of #friendica what do I have to do?
If I checkout just the development branch nothing works anymore. xD

Hi,
is it correct that I can't use #Twidere with #Friendica?
What are u using?

FYI:
federated social networks are great!

And there are many - coming with different pros and cons.

I celebrate them all together in hope they'll be one day all part of one big #fediverse

Hello LIBRANET.de users,
I've merged the latest changes to the ~friendica ~friendica develop codebase into the running code on LIBRANET.de. There are some big usability changes.

Image/photo

1.) The community page has two separate streams now. The first one shows all public posts of the users of this node (libranet.de). The second one shows public posts from all over the federated network (Friendica, Diaspora, Hubzilla, Mastodon, GnuSocial). If you are familiar with Mastodon's local timeline and federated timeline, then you know the underlying principle already.

2.) It is now possible to interact with public items from strangers or let's call them 'non-contacts'. :-) Every user can comment, like and reshare all public posts now. This is a big step for Friendica's usability, especially on the community pages.

Please be aware that these changes are experimental, not yet feature complete and still under development. So, if you find glitches or errors, please report them.

Happy New Year #Friendica!
On this new year celebration, I'd like to tout our own horn here at #Friendica and reflect on the impressive amount of work that went into improving the software on all fronts.

This year, we:
  • Added support for Unicode emojis 🎉.
  • Added Mastodon to the long list of protocols/networks we support 🐘.
  • Moved and improved the main directory at dir.friendica.social 📇.
  • Improved or added Russian, Italian, British, Portuguese, Spanish, German and Chinese translations 🇺🇳.
  • Defined coding standards for the project and made numerous files compliant.
  • Added Composer support and moved some third-party libraries to the vendor/ folder and some global includes to the src/ folder where they are now auto-loaded.
  • Added several missing API calls to further integration with #Twidere.
  • Completely overhauled the background processes.
  • Started using prepared statements instead of explicit parameter escaping.
And this on top of all the usual bug fixes and various improvements we regularly come up with.

Thanks @Friendica Developers, and here's to a new year of happy coding! 🎉

Stuck together glass in porcelain

I currently have a glass stuck in a porcelain. I have already setup cold water in top glass and hot (boiling, I'm careful) around lower but still they remain stuck. Plus I added salt in upper (cold) glass. I got this (last) idea from a #youtube video with ID #HOglOnne3As which seems quite straight-forward but still no success here.

Any ideas? I cannot currently upload images, size limit of 780k exceeded but I set $a->config['system']['maximagesize'] = 2*1024*1024; which should be enough, right?

Strange #bug in #Friendica ... So you have to live with a link to my #nextcloud instance: https://cloud.mxchange.org/s/rnFtrpbQqAXx8O1

Insert Pixabay Pictures in Friendica Post

Search and insert #images directly within #Friendica.
Since I have no idea about programming I put my idea in here.
Pictures make blogs and social networks more interesting so I think it would be a good idea if there was an addon in Friendica that could import pictures, for example from #Pixabay, into Friendica posts, as this one does for Wordpress under this link.
I opened an issue on Github

https://www.producthunt.com/posts/pixabay-images-3-0-for-wordpress

@Gargron On #Friendica we use a local proxy feature for OEmbed, so that it's on the same domain as the node.

Ex: https://friendica.mrpetovan.com/oembed/aHR0cHM6Ly90d2l0dGVyLmNvbS9ldmVyeWRheWxvdWllL3N0YXR1cy85Mzg4MDc1MzA1MTU0MTUwNDA=

Where aHR0cHM6Ly90d2l0dGVyLmNvbS9ldmVyeWRheWxvdWllL3N0YXR1cy85Mzg4MDc1MzA1MTU0MTUwNDA= simply is the base64 encode of the target URL.

More about Twitter's toxicity

It's now been about two months since I deleted the Twitter app from my mobile phone, and I've already written about Twitter's toxicity, but something struck me again recently.

On no other social network I've ever been on people hate-retweet so much than on #Twitter. Not even on #Facebook. Hate-retweeting is the act of mentioning someone else's tweet to comment on how bad you think the tweet, the opinion expressed or the person is to you. I don't exactly understand why people on Twitter feel the need of doing that more than on any other platforms, but I have a few hunches:
  • Twitter is hugely popular and mostly public. Many famous people are using it for everyone else to see.
  • The short format encourages candid reactions to events, and the publicity again push people to be the first to comment on anything newsworthy.
  • Anger and humor naturally spread faster than any other speech tone. By combining both, snarky remarks gets the engagement jackpot, which in turn makes them more readily available by Twitter's suggestion features.

For all these reasons, I'm more glad than ever to host my own #Friendica decentralized social network server where there's no public feed to speak of, I control what strikes my eyeballs in my feed, and I feel much less "social media fatigue" than I used to on Twitter. Which means I'm more sensitive to the fewer instances of hate-retweets I still get from my linked Twitter account than when I used to see more of them.

Oh well.

OStatus is disabled?

How can I activate OStatus connections?
I already activated Gnusocial Connector Plugin.
But in the social Network Tab stands:

Built-in support for GNU Social (OStatus) connectivity is disabled

It seems like not all of my toos are federated to #friendica. ❓
Only up to 4 days ago they get federated.(It is sad because I wanted to share all of my images there as well.😕 )
Is that a #bug?
Is there a #federation limit? 🤔

Does friendica not federate older posts from mastodon?

The different networks I am on, the Fediverse (Gnusocial, Mastodon etc.), the Federation (Diaspora, Friendica etc) and Steemit - has each a special tone because of the different clientèle.
  • The Federation is political and like a bit of fine art to spice up the internet kitch. Mostly common sense adults (apart from my closed family network that is... family)
  • Steemit is Wild West libertarians, beggars and US Americans (also a lot of fun people and fine artists)
  • And the Fediverse is full of whining, I presume it is sensitive youth (not at all an uncommon profile-description: cuteness and depression)
Diaspora and Steemit is heavy on freedom of speech, Mastodon is about safe space for weak souls.

Funny enough they all got the same ideals in many ways, and the technical means to get them. It is only the people who are different.

How does #Friendica examine if a post/article in an #RSS/#Atom feed is new and has to be posted? I have lots of old posts coming up at @Piratenpartei News (NRW) and wonder what is the reason for this. Surely many of these have been posted before.

I think the same happens with my account @Piratentweets.

I have no prior experience in organizing this sort but if thing, but uh, here's a new MeetUp I'm starting.

BAMF - Bay Area Members of the Fediverse

http://meetu.ps/c/3CrlC/vlXjp/d on Meetup

Currently testing it out to gauge interest. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and want to come out and make new friends, that would be the most amazing thing. You are welcome to join, regardless of whether you're from #Diaspora, #Friendica, #Hubzilla, or any other federated platform.

I'll pick a date and a venue soon.

#Fediverse #SanFrancisco #BayArea

This is funnier because it bumps into the Federation - but you can follow Twitter people on #Friendica! It's the best of all possible worlds. But maybe less in a purity culture way.

Hacking friendica code with trailing/leading white-spaces

When editing #Friendica code, I use a local commit hook, finding leading and trailing white-spaces. The hook itself is GIT's default pre-commit hook plus a few extra lines:

# Find bad scripts
./util/typo.php

# PHPUnit
if [ -x ./vendor/bin/phpunit ]
then
./vendor/bin/phpunit || exit 255
fi

So, please don't wonder when I touch "the whole file". Then I have just changed DOS -> Uni* line-break (CRLF to LF) as it was being detected as trailing white-space characters.

What is #Mastodon and why is it better than #Twitter | Read the Tea Leaves

Most of the points here apply to any other #federated social network, like #Diaspora, #Friendica, #Hubzilla and #Socialhome. Join the federated social web, we have #community :)

I know there are bigger ones that are not on the list. But anyway, I am happy about it. :-)

Was ist „Fediverse“

Was ist „Die Föderation“

Mastodon have interface that others must have

Just opened the #Mastodon for myself.
Definitely it have best interface design in social networks world with great attention to details. Hope someday #Friendica will have someting similiar.

I would like to give a big shout out to @Tobias for making the Language Filter plugin based off the PEAR library Text_LanguageDetect.

After fiddling with the settings, I now have a timeline more readable than ever, especially since most #Friendica maintainers are mainly speaking and writing in german while I don't.

Here are my winning settings:
  • Minimum confidence in language detection: 23
  • Minimum length of message body: 100

Sure, that is why I don't like male/female-thinking as it is to much black&white. And also that is why I like #Friendica as it shows tolerance (it origins from Latin word tolerare : https://dela.dict.cc/?s=tolerare ) towards many other genders.

Anyone knows @Steve Dowe personally? His #Friendica instance is flooding with the same 5 posts at a few minutes intervals and I'd very much like it to stop, but he doesn't seem to be available through Friendica.
