"If Jewish people had guns, the Holocaust wouldn't have happened".

I know the argument is bonkers, but I recently thought about Kurdish people, and they are a discriminated minority with guns. Except they are attacked by Turkey, Iraq, Syria and ISIS and their political party is labeled as "terrorist" by NATO, so I don't think Jewish people with guns would have fared any better early 1900s.

@hypolite Guns can only do so much against tanks.

And guns definitely don't do anything against ostracism. Kurds in Syria basically don't have any rights.

I'm not talking about Israelis.

.. nur gut das wir murde haben um uns dies zu erklären ..

the weapons of the IDF are the reason, why israel still exists and there was no second auschwitz, till now
Until you can prove to me how protesters throwing stone even remotely compare to Auschwitz, it's a solid no.

The Hamas didn't exist before the creation of Israel, so it's completely irrelevant to the original post. If you keep derailing this conversation that wasn't about Israel at all, you will get blocked.

The world is only at peace, when each and every human being has its own atom bomb.

(Then at least some will use it, a nuclear overkill will then extinkt all humans and earth will be at peace finally.)

If you keep derailing this conversation
he/she/it always does ..

And as promised, they got blocked.

Thanks for smoking these guys out for me so I know who to block. ;)

Have you watched the video I linked? It breaks it down pretty well.

I skimmed through it, but I just wanted to mention Kurds' ordeal. Like I said the original argument is nonsensical, I didn't need an explanation, but maybe other people reading this do.

Three Arrows is usually pretty on point.

The little I heard while skimming sounded reasonable.

Us Jews in the "diaspora" haven't been subjected to a second Auschwitz (not to say that there wasn't horrible treatment of Jews, particularly in the USSR) no matter how many guns Israel has. Netanyahu's support anti-Semitic fascists in Europe does far more to threaten Jews than his "protecting Jews" through a brutal occupation and the expansion and entrenchment of an Apartheid state.

I was wondering just that Mr Toothbrush, thx for pointing out ..

.. talking about the Kurds, I wonder if Lennon's saying proves true again ..

This is both naive and said from a privileged position. No rights have been won over with jokes.

It sounds quite easy to me to send others into violent trouble, like to say, privileged send into war, common people pay the price ..

I do guess that the Lennon-Mohandas position is true to a certain point on the path of self defense, also there is an ultimate stair step where brutal violence can or may prevent greater harm i think. That's probably the ISIS case.

Also i see tons of lost energy which should or could probably be used way more constructive for the sake of the communities, the people. There is a story of a black community in the 1920th (?) .. black wall street (?) .. oh nice! new info .. story was told that they managed to invest in themselfs, wikipedia says they where obligated due to segregation ..

thing is, which is the best way to preserve a pathway forward for the communities, i don't think nationalism is the only or best key.

If you take to weapons you choose a playground ..

His bed-in worked quite well for him
He had a climate-controlled closet for his furs
As people in families like mine died for nothing in Vietnam
And millions in Southeast Asia were terrorized

(I didn't mean to contrast people/millions but rather for nothing/the aim of the policy)

Edit:

He had a climate-controlled closet for his furs
As people in families like mine died for nothing in Vietnam, except to
Terrorize millions of other people in Southeast Asia

@mʕ•ﻌ•ʔm CC0-NC Are you saying Kurds are nationalists? Given that they don't have a nation to speak of, being spread over at least 4 different countries, they might be the single most justified people to be nationalist. None of the Western countries have ever been justified being nationalists, no matter how loud they said they were in mortal peril, as it currently happens right now using Syrian refugees as a scapegoat.

I'm not saying that Kurds are nationalist, in any case it's obvious that the idea of a kurdish state is in the air since Iraq fall apart and ISIS raised it's head together with the Syrian civil war.

No worries, it was a real question, I was confused about why you mentioned nationalism.

This is both naive and said from a privileged position. No rights have been won over with jokes.
I must disagree. It's naive to think that jokes don't matter while each and everyone of us around the world is at least making one joke per day. Jokes matter and are able to change the world. It's just that in history books weapons and explosions appear more likely than famous jokes of that time.

I’m not saying jokes don’t matter, I’m saying they aren’t enough.
